News 13's Kim Block spent most of her childhood in a suburb of Washington, D.C. Hers is a family of travelers, and by the time she was 15 years old Kim had visited six countries. Most of them were in South America, and Kim fell in love with the Spanish language. That led her to earn a double-major in Spanish and Telecommunications at Indiana University.
After several years in radio, Kim found herself drawn to the world of television journalism, and she has now been at WGME News 13's anchor desk for 27 years. She is the most popular and most recognized TV anchor in Maine, according to recent surveys. Through the years Kim has covered many of Maine's most significant news stories, interviewed prominent state figures and has found her niche in medical/health reporting as WGME News 13's Healthy Living reporter.
Kim and her husband, Bob, are the proud parents of a 9-year-old daughter, Molly and a 13-year-old son, Miles. She considers her children the greatest achievements of her life. She and her husband, Bob, though still very dedicated to their careers, find the real challenge to be keeping up with their energetic and constantly entertaining children! Though she is proud to be known as WGME News 13's Kim Block, her favorite role these days is as Miles' and Molly Elizabeth's mom.
